Poll finds an overwhelming 87% of Skyblock players want Aura to return
A mega poll conducted by Skyblock Elections, which received 750 verified responses, has found that 87% of Skyblock players want Aura to return. Respondents were asked "It has been multiple months since Aura left office. How much do you want the previous mayor, Aura, to return?", and were give 4 options to respond with:
Lots, A bit, Not so much and Absolutely not.
After filtering out a total of 35 false or invalid votes, and weighting the percentages by using an up to date player level distribution scan, including 10,054 total players in game, The headline figures are as follows, rounded to 2 decimal places:
These results show that almost three quarters of Skyblock players want Aura back "Lots", with a rounded 15% wanting Aura back just "A bit". On Aura's negative side, we see only 13% of Skyblock players do not want her back. This gives Aura an estimated approval rating of +74, very high for any typical world leader.
Results By Level
In the poll, we made users input their usernames so we could query the Hypixel API, and select the profile that had the highest Skyblock level. By doing this, we took the assumption that this profile was their main one. We extracted Level and Skill data from this. What we found was interesting.
In this poll, it was hypothesised that the higher the level increased, the less approval would be there for Aura. This pattern is noticeable from Level 101 onwards, as the "Lots" level of approval decreases higher up in level you go, with the highest resistance coming from the Lvl 400+ group. However, the lower level players in the Lvl 1-100 category appear oddly resistant to Aura. One of the reasons that this may be is due to little education on who Aura is, as these players are likely new to the game, and may not actually know anything about the mayor.
Results By Main Skill
In the poll, we also looked at skill XP and used that to determine out of the main skills which one was likely mainly done by the player. Using this, we can see how by skill Aura approval changes.
Fishing mains lack in this poll, with out of the 750, only 10 detected as fishing mains. So, we should ignore the fishing results. We find that farmers appear the most favourable of Aura, followed by miners and foragers. The lack of support from Miners was likely attributed to the almost constant Mining Fiestas, which lead to prices falling dramatically, leading to less profit for them. Foraging may have had a similar signal, however it is hard to tell.
Reaction
We gave exclusive access of the poll to End_aura, a player who came 2nd in the 8th minister election and using that power, did end up ending aura, and this was their initial reaction.
You can probably guess what was said. The anti-Aura movement is no longer what it once was, and if Aura were to run again, she would likely dominate the election like last time.
In summary, the pro-aura bloc inside of the Skyblock community could not really be stronger. The elite Skyblock players appear to have the highest resistance to the Mayor, while mainly lower level players have higher approval ratings of the Mayor, in exception to the Lvl 1-100 bloc.
